From June 9 to 12, CHARIS organized a new annual gathering in Rome, bringing together more than 50 representatives from various international charismatic movements and communities to share and enrich one another on different aspects of charismatic spirituality.
Topics discussed included the character of the charismatic community leader, understanding the founding charism in a community, the prophetic call to the ecumenical mission, and communities as pilgrims of hope in this jubilee time.
The Shalom Community was represented by several of the International Assistance in Rome, including Fr. Silvio Scopel, in charge, and two missionaries from the Community of Life, Samuel Briois and Nara Santos. Paulo Henrique Alburquerque, current Apostolic Assistant of the Community, was also present.
“This event is always a source of formation for the life and mission of charismatic community leaders, as well as a moment of encounter in view of communion,” emphasized Fr. Silvio Scopel.
Furthermore, for the International Assistant, several messages stood out regarding leadership flowing from the life of prayer and the cardinal virtues, with holiness being the best way to prophesy hope, especially in this jubilee season.
Finally, Fr. Silvio noted that during the shared moments of prayer, the Lord made “great promises” of healing and fruitfulness for the sake of the mission.
